At the Kuryk customs post in Mangystau region, an attempt to illegally transport jewelry across the state border was prevented. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The incident occurred while granting permission to board the sea vessel "Zarifa Aliyeva." The attention of customs officers was drawn to a 62-year-old citizen of Kazakhstan who was walking across the border. After passing passport control, she appeared anxious, moved slowly, and constantly held her lower abdomen with her hand, raising suspicion.
The suspicious woman was subjected to a joint inspection by customs officers, border service, the department of economic investigations, and the transport prosecutor's office. According to the Department of State Revenues, 34 jewelry items were confiscated from the woman's genitals: 15 sets (earrings and rings), 7 rings, 3 earrings, 1 chain, 2 bracelets, 1 white bracelet, and 5 yellow (round) bracelets.
Procedural actions are being carried out in accordance with the legislation of Kazakhstan. The department noted that concealing goods in the human body is one of the most dangerous methods of illegal cargo transportation across the border. Such actions not only violate customs legislation but may also pose a serious threat to the offender's health. The department emphasized that control at checkpoints has been strengthened, and work to detect and prevent attempts to illegally import goods will continue.
