French President Emmanuel Macron said the US-Russia agreement on diesel fuel could create a rift between Washington and Europe. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"This is a negative signal, as well as a factor that causes discord and doubt. On the contrary, it could create mistrust," he said at a briefing following the European Union summit in Brussels.

Macron also said that US President Donald Trump is trying to change his position and is working on measures to lower fuel prices.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump agreed on October 9 on supplying Russian diesel fuel to the global market.

After that, Trump again expressed dissatisfaction that Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky is not ready for peace agreements and does not want to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries. He said Ukraine needs a new leader who can negotiate with Russia.

Zelensky publicly protested the agreement between Russia and the US on diesel fuel. Later, he said that he had previously banned attacks on Russian oil refineries, but now this ban has been lifted.
