Maira Meldebekova has been dismissed from the post of First Vice Minister of Education of Kazakhstan. The corresponding resolution was adopted by the government, the press service of the Cabinet reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Meldebekova was born in 1971 in the Kyzylorda region. She graduated from Almaty State University named after Abai and Kyzylorda State University named after Korkyt Ata.

From 1993 to 2005, she worked as a teacher of mathematics and computer science in schools in Shymkent, Almaty region, and East Kazakhstan region.

From 2005 to 2018, she held leadership positions in the system of the Ministry of Education and Science.

In 2018-2020, she headed the education department of the Kyzylorda region, in 2020-2021 she led the Committee for Preschool and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Science.

In 2021-2022, she was Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education of the Ministry of Education and Science, and in 2022-2025 she held a similar position in the structure of the Ministry of Education.

Meldebekova was appointed to the post of First Vice Minister of Education in May 2025.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that since July 1, a new Constitution has come into force in Kazakhstan, providing for a phased renewal of state institutions. Within two months, heads of a number of key bodies must be appointed or reappointed, and in September the government will resign before the new Kurultai, after which the Vice President and members of the Cabinet will be appointed.
