Mazhilis member Bolatbek Nazhmetdinuly announced that he has sent his last deputy request to the government. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
At today's session of the lower house, Nazhmetdinuly began his speech: "My last deputy request in the Mazhilis is addressed to First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Nalibayev."
In his request, the deputy raised the issue of speed limits on the international transport corridor "Western Europe – Western China." Currently, near populated areas in the south, the speed cannot exceed 60 km/h.
"If on such sections there is no possibility for pedestrians to enter the road, oncoming traffic flows are completely separated, and all engineering safety solutions are implemented, then what is the need for such restrictions?" said Nazhmetdinuly.
According to him, police control over speed limits has been strengthened everywhere. As a result, many drivers are more concerned about avoiding fines than about road safety.
"As a result, citizens not only use the toll road but in some cases receive fines reaching tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of tenge. If these are highways of national importance, then why is a different approach to speed limits applied in each region? For example, in some regions, on roads of the same category, the permitted speed is increased to 120-140 km/h," the Mazhilis member noted.
In this regard, he asked to consider the possibility of gradually increasing the permitted speed on sections that fully meet safety requirements, are fenced, and have separated oncoming traffic.
It should be noted that Nazhmetdinuly was elected to parliament in 2023 from a single-mandate constituency – Shymkent. This political organization recently joined the ӘDILET party.
