The Central Election Commission has amended its resolution on the number of maslikhat deputies. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The number of maslikhat deputies is determined by the population of the settlement. Under the new rules:
- 01In districts with a population of up to 15,000 people – 10 deputies;
- 02In cities with a population of up to 50,000 people – 11 deputies;
- 03In regions with a population of up to 300,000 people – 23 deputies;
- 04In the cities of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent – up to 30 deputies.
For every increase of 200,000 people, the number of deputies increases by two. In small cities, for every 25,000 people, and in districts, for every 15,000 people, the number of deputies increases by one.
The CEC resolution also specifies the exact number of maslikhat deputies in certain cities and districts. In particular:
- 01Aktobe – 30 deputies;
- 02Taraz – 28 deputies;
- 03Semey – 22 deputies;
- 04Alatau – 11 deputies.
In Almaty region:
- 01Karasay district – 25 deputies;
- 02Enbekshikazakh district – 25 deputies;
- 03Ile district – 25 deputies.
In Zhambyl region:
- 01Zhambyl district – 13 deputies.
In Abai region:
- 01Urzhar district – 11 deputies.
Maslikhats in the Kurshim, Katon-Karagay, Makanshy, Zhanasemey, Ulken Naryn and Markakol districts of East Kazakhstan region will have 10 deputies each.
It is worth noting that early elections of maslikhat deputies may be held in Kazakhstan before the end of the year. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed with the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Kurultai the issue of early termination of the powers of maslikhats at all levels and will sign the corresponding decree.
