Flowers laid at Abai monument in Moscow on Abai Day

Moscow marked Abai Day, the Kazakh embassy in Russia reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

As tradition dictates, on Abai Day diplomats from the Kazakh embassy in Russia, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Moscow government, Kazakh cultural societies, and Kazakh students from local universities laid flowers at the monument to the great Kazakh poet and thinker on Chistye Prudy Boulevard.

Ambassador Dauren Abayev noted that Abai's work embodies all the wisdom of the Kazakh people and defined their spiritual horizon many years ago.

During the event, participants read Abai's "Words of Edification" and performed the famous songs "Zhelsiz tunde zharyk ai" and "Kozimnyn karasy".

Abai Day was established by a resolution of the Government of Kazakhstan in 2020. The monument to him in Moscow was opened on April 4, 2006.
