Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar told reporters in Brussels that if Ukraine successfully concludes EU accession talks with Brussels, Hungary will hold a binding referendum on its membership. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"If Ukraine can conclude negotiations with Brussels at some point, a final referendum with legal force will be held on this issue, but it will not happen the day after tomorrow," he said.

According to the prime minister, Hungary is dissatisfied with Brussels' attempts to fast-track Kyiv's membership, thereby ignoring countries that have been waiting for years to join the EU.

"We have also started the process of conducting this procedure differently for each country, based on its merits and results," he added.

On Friday, Magyar stated that Hungary had rejected the provision for Ukraine's accelerated EU accession. He noted that for the first time in a year and a half, the final statement was supported by all 27 countries.
