The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced the arrest of an armed man at President Donald Trump's golf club near Los Angeles. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
Jeanine John Taele, 38, was arrested Sunday at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. He was taking photos and video, apparently monitoring security preparations two days ahead of Trump's fundraiser. A 16-round magazine with ammunition was found in his pocket, and a loaded pistol was recovered from his car.
On Monday, authorities searched his home in the nearby city of Downey and found a plethora of firearms, magazines, ammunition, body armor, and notebooks with "concerning statements." The sheriff's department did not elaborate on the content of the notebooks or whether the man was planning an attack on the president or the event.
Taele was charged with several felonies, including second-degree robbery, receiving a large-capacity magazine, and possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun. He was also charged with carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, a misdemeanor. He pleaded not guilty to all charges Monday and was ordered to stay away from the golf course and not possess weapons. Bail was set at $250,000.
The sheriff's department said when they made contact with Taele on Sunday, they had determined he was being investigated by the El Segundo Police Department for robbery. The department stated there is "no credible threat to our communities." It was unclear if he had an attorney, and family members could not be reached for comment.
In 2025, a jury found a man guilty of trying to assassinate Trump at the president's Florida country club.
