A delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev met in London with representatives of the UK government, international banks and export credit organizations to discuss mechanisms for financing Alatau City infrastructure projects. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

At a roundtable chaired by UK Export Finance (UKEF), participants considered opportunities to finance Alatau City's energy, transport and utility projects using export credits, bank guarantees and other instruments of state support for British exports.

"The Kazakh side proposed forming a list of priority projects in the construction of energy facilities, water supply and sewerage systems, and transport infrastructure that could be implemented with the involvement of British engineering companies, equipment manufacturers and financial institutions," the statement said.

Practical mechanisms for attracting capital were the subject of negotiations with Charles Corbett, Standard Chartered's global head of public sector engagement. Syndicated lending, co-financing with international development institutions and the use of export credit agency guarantees were discussed.

A separate meeting was held with UK government ministers Anas Sarwar, Chris McDonald and Kanishka Narayan. The parties focused on deepening trade and investment partnership, transferring British technology and implementing joint projects in science, innovation and artificial intelligence.

In addition, the prospects for digitalizing Alatau City's urban infrastructure were discussed. As part of the education track, the Kazakh delegation held negotiations with the leadership of Magdalen College School. The possibility of opening an international-level school in Alatau City, introducing British educational programs and organizing joint teacher training was discussed.
