Kazakhstan's women's field hockey team missed out on victory against underdog Bangladesh at the 2026 Asian Games, drawing 3:3. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

In the 37th minute of the match, midfielder Viktoria Lobanova completed a hat-trick. Kazakhstan led 3:1, but unfortunately could not hold the winning score.

After the group stage, the top two teams from each six-team group will advance to the semifinals. The third and fourth teams will compete for places 5-8. The group underdogs will play for 9th and 11th places.

The champions of the 2026 Asian Games will receive a ticket to the 2028 Olympics. The next four teams will play in the Olympic qualifying tournament.

Kazakhstan's hockey players have participated in the Asian Games four times. In Bangkok-98 and Incheon-2014, our team was sixth, in Guangzhou-2010 – seventh. At the last Asian Games (Hangzhou-2022), Kazakhstan took eighth place.

The XX Summer Asian Games officially opened on September 19 and will end on October 4. Athletes from 45 countries are competing for 460 sets of medals. Kazakhstan's national team at the 2026 Asian Games includes 558 athletes in 35 sports.

On the first day of the Games, Kazakhstan won four gold medals. The champions of the Games were cyclists Rinata Sultanova and Alexey Lutsenko, as well as karatekas Zholaman Bigabyl and Sofya Berultseva. The fifth gold was added to the team's tally by MMA fighter Yerkingali Burkutalin. The sixth – by his teammate in mixed martial arts Kadyrbek Shynbayev. On September 23, Lutsenko became a two-time champion of the 2026 Asian Games. The eighth gold medal was won the day before by rowers Vladislav Yakovlev and Ivan Chernukhin in the men's coxless pairs competition.

After five days of the Games, Kazakhstan was in fourth place in the unofficial medal standings.
