American pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly has announced the acquisition of biotechnology company Merida Biosciences for up to $2.88 billion. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Reuters.

The deal is aimed at strengthening Lilly's strategy in developing drugs for autoimmune diseases. The purchase price could reach $2.88 billion, allowing the company to solidify its position in this field.

According to Lilly representatives, this move will help expand the portfolio of innovative medicines and offer patients new treatment options. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026.
