China has begun mass-producing a gadget that promises to rid homes of mosquitoes using a laser. The first batch of the Photon Matrix device is planned to be shipped to customers at the end of August. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

How Photon Matrix works

Photon Matrix tracks flying insects using LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar, and an AI-powered camera. When the system detects a mosquito, it determines its position and directs a laser at it. In other words, a person just sits and watches a miniature air defense system wage war on bloodsuckers.

Production and sales

The company has already launched production and opened an online store. Customers are offered versions with infrared and blue lasers.

Expert doubts

However, it is not yet clear how well this system works in real conditions. The device's claimed specifications have not been confirmed by independent tests, and the company promises to share more about safety later.

So far, social media users are wondering: could the laser mistakenly target a cat's tail, a curious dog, or its own owner? Developers still need to prove that a small home laser air defense system can truly distinguish a mosquito from everything else.

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that drones were used to combat mosquitoes in Atyrau.
