According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the content of negotiations with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and US President's son-in-law Jared Kushner is based on US President Donald Trump's stance on the impossibility of Ukraine joining NATO. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"The essence of the issue discussed — I can assure you — boils down to the position that President Trump defined immediately upon returning to the cabinet on matters concerning Ukraine... He said that one should not even think about attempts to draw Ukraine into the North Atlantic Alliance," Lavrov said in an interview with the "Bolshaya Igra" program on Channel One.
Answering a question from American TV host Andrew Napolitano about the results of the visit of special envoys Witkoff and Kushner to Moscow, the minister noted that Russian President's aide Yuri Ushakov, who participated in the talks, had already given detailed comments on this matter.
Lavrov stressed that he does not want to speculate about what the special envoys brought to Moscow or took to Kyiv.
