The Solar Astronomy Laboratory reported that on Thursday, August 20, space observers recorded an extremely powerful M8.1-class flare on the Sun, accompanied by a plasma ejection at a speed of more than 1200 kilometers per second. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

As noted in the Laboratory, this large-scale explosion caused a colossal coronal mass ejection, which is now rushing into open space at tremendous speed.

This powerful flare was not a single event on the star. It led a whole series of medium-power explosions that astronomers recorded during the day.

Scientists warn of possible deterioration of geomagnetic conditions. From August 20 to 22, experts predict moderate magnetic storms caused by the parallel influence of a high-speed stream from a solar coronal hole.
