Madina (name changed), a resident of Almaty region, was accused of stabbing her husband to death after nearly 17 years of marriage, but the court acquitted her. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Why the woman, pregnant with her fifth child, killed her husband, what circumstances had occurred in the family before, and why the court acquitted her drew public attention. A Sputnik Kazakhstan correspondent listened to both sides.

"She saw everything in 17 years"

Two sisters of Madina, accused of killing her husband, gave an interview to a Sputnik Kazakhstan correspondent. According to them, their sister was kidnapped by a villager she had known for only ten days. Both lived in the village of Shengeldi, Almaty region.

"Our sister has been a daughter-in-law for nearly 17 years. During this time, there was neither matchmaking nor a wedding. Less than a year after becoming a daughter-in-law, her husband started beating her. All these years we constantly intervened in their relationship," say the sisters of the woman who killed her husband.

"Pulling her hair and beating..."

When Madina was kidnapped, she did not want to stay and returned home. However, her husband's relatives took her back. This happened in 2009.

"Despite the guy's poor circumstances, Madina stayed on the threshold. In 2010, her mother-in-law's sister came to their house. Then Madina contacted us: 'Take me away, they are beating me.' I went, entered the house, and the mother-in-law's sister was pulling Madina's hair and beating her. I barely separated them and got into a fight with that woman. So I took my sister," says sister Zholdyz.

Did not conceive for six years

The conflict did not end there. According to the sisters, the husband broke his sister-in-law's tooth and smashed the windows of his in-laws' house. However, later the couple forgave each other and reunited.

"Madina did not conceive for about five or six years. Then her husband got treatment, and in 2016 Madina became pregnant with her first child. There were times when they kicked her out into the frost in February with a premature baby. Our sister was beaten many times, once even a blood vessel in her eye burst," says sister Gulzhanat.

"Put a splinter in her eye"

Madina's sisters also said that she often fell into depression.

"When Madina, beaten, went home, her husband had an affair with a woman from Karakalpakstan who came to Shengeldi. His antics did not end there. Later, when they quarreled again, he had an affair with my colleague," says Gulzhanat.

"We heard many things only in court"

According to relatives, the man was very jealous of his wife. He did not allow her even to wear perfume and forced her to wear a hijab.

"The husband began to pray and forced Madina to pray too. Later, our sister's health worsened, and she stopped praying. We only learned in court what difficulties he caused her. In general, he was always very angry," say the sisters.

Contracting a disease

According to the sisters, Madina hid many events so they would not worry.

"In 2014, Madina contracted a sexually transmitted infection from her husband. She was treated in a hospital near Koktobe. She had syphilis and was treated for three months. In 2017, she contracted the disease again from her husband. Both were treated anonymously," say the sisters.

Madina left her husband several times but returned. Thus, four children were born, and she was pregnant with the fifth.

"The husband openly said he would cheat on her. He even told Madina: 'As a woman, you don't interest me.'"
