Kazakhstan's national railway company KTZ and Huawei have agreed to implement joint projects to digitalize the country's railway networks. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" Yelzhas Otynshiyev met with Huawei's Senior Vice President for Corporate Sales Leo Chen. The parties reviewed the results of their cooperation and identified directions for further work.
Key Projects
Several important initiatives were discussed at the meeting. Among them, a special place is occupied by the project to deploy an LTE-R network — a specialized wireless communication system for railway transport. This system is expected to ensure stable data transmission and improve coordination of train traffic.
In addition, KTZ and Huawei considered the creation of a Data Processing Center (DPC). The center is planned to be equipped with modern computing solutions, including Huawei technologies, to support analytical systems and artificial intelligence.
Another direction is the launch of an Intelligent Operations Center (IOC). It will allow real-time monitoring of technological processes, data visualization, and operational management of the railway network.
Cybersecurity
The parties also agreed to pay special attention to protecting KTZ's digital infrastructure. This involves creating a specialized Cybersecurity Center to counter modern information threats.
KTZ noted that the partnership with Huawei will allow the company to use international experience and modern technologies to accelerate digital transformation.
Context
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kazakhstan is entering a new cycle of railway modernization. Total investments in the transport sector over the past 15 years are already estimated at about $35 billion.
And the day before, it became known that American Wabtec will export up to 15 locomotives from its plant in Astana in the coming years.
