Russia is aware of Turkey's readiness to help in the peaceful settlement of the situation around Ukraine and is grateful to Ankara for this, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Journalists asked Peskov how the Kremlin assesses the prospects for resuming negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine with Turkey's mediation. Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Turkey is ready to provide assistance in this matter.
"We know well that our Turkish friends are ready to continue assisting the process aimed at a peaceful settlement of the situation around Ukraine. We express our gratitude to the Turkish side for this," Peskov told reporters.
Fidan earlier stated that despite the difficult situation, Turkey hopes for a ceasefire in Ukraine and believes that opportunities for resolving the conflict remain.
