In the Kostanay region, the prosecutor's office managed to change the rules for receiving social assistance. An inspection showed that some residents could lose payments due to missing the application deadline, and people with disabilities were required to provide additional medical documents. The problem was in the rules approved by the district maslikhat back in 2023. According to them, an application for social assistance had to be submitted within three months. If a person missed this deadline even for a valid reason, it was impossible to restore it.
In fact, this meant that a person could lose the right to apply for help only because of a late application.
A separate violation concerned citizens with disabilities. When applying for support, they were required to provide additional medical documents, although the law does not provide for such a condition.
"The current legislation does not provide for the submission of such documents as a mandatory condition for receiving social assistance," the prosecutor's office of the Kostanay region reported.
After the intervention of the prosecutor's office, changes were made to the rules. Now they are brought into compliance with the legislation, and the restrictions that prevented residents from applying for social assistance have been eliminated.
