South Korean President Lee Jae-myung expressed gratitude to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the National Security Committee for the detention of a criminal group involved in phone fraud. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Earlier, the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan reported the discovery of a call center engaged in fraud. At that time, 14 citizens of the Republic of Korea were detained. They called their compatriots and stole money through deception.
According to South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, this criminal group deceived people in Cambodia and Vietnam. Then they secretly moved to Kazakhstan. Currently, investigative measures have been initiated against them.
"The prompt execution of work from the moment of detention to delivery to the country was possible thanks to the active support and cooperation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan. We express our sincere gratitude to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the relevant parties," the Korean leader wrote in Kazakh on his social media page.
In this regard, Lee Jae-myung also specifically noted that he intends to meet with Tokayev in person at the "Republic of Korea – Central Asia" summit, which will be held next month, and personally convey his gratitude.
