The Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has reported 956 confirmed cases of Ebola and 247 deaths. In the past 24 hours, 23 new infections were detected. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Authorities warn that the outbreak is still in a growth phase, so the number of infected may increase.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that the total number of confirmed cases in the country had approached 900.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced it would allocate $107 million in emergency funding to strengthen response measures to the Ebola outbreak in the DRC and Uganda, both domestically and abroad.

According to a leading African health organization, less than 10% of the promised funds from donors have been received to support response efforts in Congo and Uganda.

Donors pledged $910 million, including $80 million from African Union member states. However, less than $90 million has actually been provided to the affected countries so far, a representative of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told the publication.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that the number of recovered patients as of June 11 was 30. Since then, the data on those who have overcome the fever has not changed.

Recall that the Bundibugyo virus was first identified in 2007. It is much rarer than the well-known Zaire strain. Therefore, it is poorly understood and associated with high mortality. At this stage, treatment is limited to supportive care and complication management, and a vaccine is not expected until around the end of 2026.
