The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda has killed more than 1,000 people. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
According to an update from Congo's public health institute on Wednesday, there have been 2,536 confirmed Ebola cases and 1,033 deaths, with at least 738 patients in isolation. This outbreak is the fastest-growing in history, with no approved vaccine or treatment available.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is taking emergency measures to contain the spread of the virus. The disease is concentrated in the city of Bunia in Ituri province in eastern Congo. Doctors are isolating patients and implementing strict quarantine measures to prevent further spread.
Ebola virus is characterized by symptoms such as high fever, bleeding, and damage to internal organs. Currently, there is no approved vaccine or specific treatment, so preventive measures and patient isolation are the main methods of outbreak control.
The WHO and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have sent specialists to assist local authorities. The international community is providing financial and medical aid to prevent further spread of the infection.
