Kazakhstan is implementing three major investment projects in the coal chemistry sector. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Energy, construction of a plant producing 1 million tonnes of metallurgical coke per year has begun in the Karaganda region. An investment agreement has been signed with a Chinese investor.
In the Pavlodar region, Naz Dan Group LLP is implementing a project to produce diesel fuel from coal. The enterprise's capacity is 100,000 tonnes per year. The company has been granted a subsoil use license.
In the Karaganda region, Alfa Plast LLP has launched a similar project with a capacity of 100,000 tonnes of diesel fuel per year. A subsoil use license has been granted.
In addition, the ministry, in order to systematically develop the coal chemistry sector, together with coal chemistry and coal mining companies, as well as other interested organizations, has developed a draft roadmap for the development of Kazakhstan's coal chemistry industry for 2026–2031.
The draft roadmap includes a number of promising projects aimed at deep processing of coal. In particular, in the Karaganda region, on the basis of Qarmet JSC, it is planned to develop a coking cluster providing for the processing of up to 200,000 tonnes of resin per year, production of up to 35,000 tonnes of benzene and purification of coke gas.
In the Abai region, Samal Commodities LLP plans to produce 300,000 tonnes of ammonia and 520,000 tonnes of carbamide. In the Pavlodar region, Qaz Nedro Resurs LLP is considering a project to produce 100,000 tonnes of diesel fuel per year on the basis of the Sarykol deposit.
