An incident that occurred on the night of June 12 in the central part of Kokshetau is under investigation. According to police, a foreign national attempted to set fire to park property on Abylai Khan Square but ended up seriously injuring himself. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Video of the incident spread on social media. The footage shows a fire and the screams of the injured man.

The incident occurred near a government building. Police officers arrived promptly at the scene. According to law enforcement, the man was intoxicated.

Police extinguished the fire and provided first aid to the victim before the ambulance arrived.

"A foreign national, while intoxicated, attempted to set fire to park property, but as a result, he himself sustained serious injuries," the police department of Akmola region reported.

The victim was taken to the Akmola Multidisciplinary Regional Hospital. According to the health department, the man born in 1988 suffered extremely severe burns.

"A man born in 1988 has 95% of his body surface burned. He is in intensive care in extremely critical condition. Treatment is being determined jointly with burn medicine specialists," medics reported.

Doctors are currently fighting for his life. According to police, shortly before the incident, the man had already been brought to administrative responsibility for appearing in a public place while intoxicated. Additionally, according to law enforcement, he had previously repeatedly violated public order.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the incident.
