A court in Kokshetau, Akmola Region, has sentenced a woman who hit and killed another woman with a car in a residential courtyard. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Kokshetau City Court issued a verdict against the woman who struck a pedestrian with a vehicle. She was charged with violating traffic rules that negligently caused a person's death. The incident occurred in May of this year.
The defendant did not have a special license to drive a vehicle. Nevertheless, she drove and hit a pedestrian while turning into a residential courtyard. As a result, the victim suffered severe bodily harm and died in the hospital, the court said.
The defendant stated that she got behind the wheel due to her husband's sudden health deterioration and with his permission. The guilty woman fully admitted her guilt. She voluntarily compensated the victim's side for moral damages. The victim's side asked the court not to imprison the defendant.
By the court's verdict, the woman was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison. Due to the presence of two young children under the care of the convicted person, the execution of the sentence was postponed for 3 years, the court said. The court act has not entered into legal force.
