Police in Kokshetau detained a young man suspected of distributing synthetic drugs. He had worked as a 'drug courier' for only one day. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
The operation was carried out by officers of the Drug Crime Prevention Unit in the Akmola Region.
According to police, the young man had recently returned from military service and agreed to an offer of 'easy money.' However, he did not manage to carry out his criminal plan — operatives detained him on his first day of 'work.'
During a personal search, 50 wraps containing a psychotropic substance were found on the suspect, which, according to the investigation, were intended for further sale.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
Since the beginning of 2026, the activities of 24 drug couriers have been stopped in the Akmola Region. Thanks to the operations, more than 80 kg of synthetic drugs were prevented from entering illegal circulation.
Law enforcement officials remind that participation in drug distribution, including as a courier or 'stash dealer,' is classified as a particularly serious crime, punishable by 7 to 12 years in prison.
The police also urged citizens not to trust advertisements about 'easy money' distributed through messengers and social networks. Such offers often conceal involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Earlier, Kursiv reported how a drug courier hid drugs in Shymkent for 1800 tenge.
