The traditional ethno-festival "Kokmaisa – the living history of the steppe" has started in the Zhanaarka district of the Ulytau region, celebrating the rich heritage and national values of the Kazakh people. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In the region, 35 yurts were erected simultaneously, and about 15,000 guests gathered. One of the most impressive moments of the festival was the simultaneous milking of 500 mares. This spectacle highlighted the vitality of national traditions and drew special attention from the audience.
In addition, the ancient Kazakh ritual "Kymyzmunyrdyk" was staged, and village elders gave their blessings. Guests and spectators were offered freshly milked kumis, and national games and traditional performances were organized.
As part of the festival, ethno-villages from different regions of the country were set up, and an exhibition of yurts was presented to the public. Visitors tasted national dishes, observed customs and traditions, and viewed the works of craftsmen.
