Lake Kobeytuz, located 160 kilometers from Astana, is famous for its unusual pink hue. Soon it will become a specially protected natural area. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"To this end, the territory of the Buyratau State National Natural Park will be expanded to include the water area of Lake Kobeytuz. This will allow effective protection of the lake's unique ecosystem," the Akimat of Akmola Region reported.
The growing number of visitors requires the development of appropriate infrastructure. In this regard, along with granting the lake the status of a specially protected natural area, the Akimat of Akmola Region will begin landscaping the coastal area.
"An observation deck and a parking lot will be built here, providing conditions for residents and guests to safely observe the natural phenomenon and take photos. At the same time, the main focus will be on preventing damage to the lake's fragile ecosystem," the statement said.
Earlier, the Department of Natural Resources and Regulation of Nature Management of Akmola Region conducted a study of the lake water's hydrochemical properties. The analysis results showed that the levels of ammonium nitrogen, ammonia, chlorides, arsenic, sulfates, and several other substances exceeded the maximum permissible concentrations. Therefore, swimming in the lake and collecting salt from its shore are strictly prohibited.
"During the landscaping work, access to Lake Kobeytuz will be temporarily restricted. Approaching the shoreline and crossing the designated restricted area is not allowed. Round-the-clock checkpoints will be set up at the lake entrances, and the area will be jointly patrolled by police officers and authorized bodies," the Akimat said.
The Akimat of Akmola Region calls on residents and guests of the region to comply with the established requirements, environmental legislation, and to treat the environment with care.
