More than 25 years after its premiere, the cult series 'The Sopranos' will be released for the first time in 4K Ultra HD format. Warner Bros. has announced a collector's edition that will go on sale December 8. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The box set will include all 86 episodes of the series, which have undergone full digital restoration. In addition to the six seasons, viewers will receive a new bonus featurette with show creator David Chase, a two-part documentary film 'Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos', as well as previously released behind-the-scenes materials, actor and producer commentaries.
The edition will also feature unusual packaging. Instead of the usual plastic boxes, all discs will be placed in a hard collector's album with photos of the actors.
During its existence, 'The Sopranos' has won 21 Emmy Awards and five Golden Globes. The series became the first cable television drama project to win the top Emmy category and largely changed the perception of modern television series.
The premiere of 'The Sopranos' took place in 1999. The story of mafia family boss Tony Soprano, who simultaneously tries to run a criminal empire and attends psychotherapy sessions, is still considered one of the best television dramas in history.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that Michael Gandolfini, son of actor James Gandolfini who played the lead role in the series, landed a role in a new film with Matt Damon.
