Kyiv authorities are negotiating with the US government and SpaceX to remove restrictions imposed on the operation of Starlink satellite communication terminals. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The statement was made by Serhiy Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and a specialist in communication systems and electronic warfare, according to RIA Novosti.

On Wednesday, former Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Serhiy Sternenko reported that restrictions had been imposed on Starlink satellite terminals at night. According to him, communication began to drop when moving at speeds above 160 kilometers per hour. This interfered with the work of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He later said the speed limit had been reduced to 60 kilometers per hour.

According to the Associated Press, Ukraine is negotiating with SpaceX and the Pentagon to lift the speed restriction on Starlink satellite communications used for military purposes.

In an interview with the agency, Beskrestnov said Ukrainian authorities are trying to determine the possibility of using the "package" of SpaceX's Starshield communication system, designed for aircraft and without connection speed limits, or removing restrictions on the existing service. According to him, Ukrainian authorities are currently conducting active negotiations with the Pentagon, SpaceX and the US government.

In addition, Kyiv is searching for alternative communication networks that could be used if access to the Starlink system is lost. According to Beskrestnov, Ukraine is also considering using Amazon's Leo satellite network and the OneWeb global satellite internet system.
