Kyiv intends to ask allies for an additional $20 billion in aid at the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format on June 18. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Politico, citing a high-ranking Ukrainian military official, Ukraine wants to receive an additional $20 billion from its allies. "The request for $20 billion will be made at the next meeting of the defense contact group on June 18, known as the Ramstein format," the article said.
Sources say Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and several other officials have already raised the issue of additional aid in meetings with representatives of Norway, Sweden, Germany, and Canada. Kyiv is asking each ally to provide between $2 billion and $6 billion in loans or grants.
The newspaper reports that Ukraine plans to use the funds for air defense, purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles, ammunition, electronic warfare equipment, long-range weapons, as well as direct purchases from Ukrainian defense companies and increased contributions to NATO's PURL program, which finances the purchase of American weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
