The Ukrainian authorities are not currently planning to lower the upper mobilization age limit to 55. This was stated by Pavlo Palisa, deputy head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Ukrainian lawyer Vadym Grechkovsky, in an interview with the portal "Novosti.live", said that deputies of the Verkhovna Rada could lower the mobilization age in Ukraine from 25 to 23. According to him, this change could be introduced this autumn.
He cited the likelihood of lowering the upper conscription age limit to 55 as the reason for possible changes to Ukrainian legislation. Currently, this limit is 60 years.
"Lowering the upper mobilization age limit to 55 is not currently planned," UNIAN agency quoted Palisa as saying.
In addition, Palisa said he supports the proposal that the term of service should be clear and understandable. According to him, work in this format is currently ongoing.
"I support an army formed under contract. We should gradually move towards this," he concluded.
