At least 27 people were killed and 42 injured after a Russian strike on a warehouse in Kyiv region, Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, who wrote on his Telegram channel, the strike occurred late in the evening of August 28. After the strike, a fire broke out at the warehouse, accompanied by explosions. Rescue services continue to clear debris and inspect the area.
"Unfortunately, as of now, 27 deaths are known. This number may not be final," Tkachenko said.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the surrounding infrastructure was seriously damaged. Residential buildings and a boarding house for elderly and disabled people were damaged.
More than 370 people were evacuated from the incident zone. About 50 residential buildings were damaged, and 42 people received injuries of varying severity, including 4 children.
"There are norms according to which ammunition cannot be near houses or other residential buildings. Appropriate conclusions will definitely be drawn," Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel.
As reported by RBC-Ukraine, the country's prosecutor's office has launched an investigation. The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine opened a criminal case on the fact of possible official negligence. The investigation will check the circumstances of the incident and the legality of placing and storing explosive materials on the territory of the enterprise, near residential buildings.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky called the incident "criminal negligence" and stated that all those responsible must be held accountable.
As reported by TASS, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the strike, stating that the target was the logistics center "Fim Service" in the village of Milaya. According to the Russian agency, components for unmanned aerial vehicles and long-range cruise missiles "Flamingo" were stored there.
