Kyiv is trying to drag Belarus directly into the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in order to expand the geography of hostilities. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a round table on the Ukrainian crisis in Moscow. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The meeting's theme was "The Ukrainian Crisis: The True Goals and Role of the West." Lavrov said that Kyiv's actions are "aimed at directly involving Belarus in the conflict and expanding the geography of hostilities, thereby complicating the possibility of a political and diplomatic settlement."
Lavrov also expressed support for the Belarusian ambassador following an attack by Ukrainian armed forces on a bus carrying Belarusian children. "I would like to express support to the ambassador of the Republic of Belarus sitting here and through him to the Belarusian people in connection with the terrorist attack committed by the Ukrainian armed forces in the Bryansk region," he said.
Additionally, the Russian foreign minister called Vladimir Zelensky's demand to "restore order" in Belarus "rudeness."
