KEGOC company has provided an explanation regarding the massive power outage in the south. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to official data, today at 14:37, a technological disruption occurred in the Unified Electric Power System of Kazakhstan, accompanied by the disconnection of 500 kV power lines "Agadyr – Ulken" Zh-5300 and Zh-5320, as well as "Aktogay – Taldykorgan" Zh-5400.
As a result, the southern region of the UES of Kazakhstan and the Unified Energy System of Central Asia switched to an isolated operating mode.
According to preliminary operational data, the technological disruption was caused by a sharp increase in power flow from the Unified Energy System of Central Asia, the official statement said.
As a result of the accident, the volume of restrictions on electricity supply to consumers in the energy system of Kazakhstan amounted to approximately 2810 MW.
The system operator immediately began restoration work. At 14:47, restrictions totaling 295 MW were lifted in the Karaganda, Abai, and Ulytau regions.
Currently, KEGOC JSC continues restoration work on electricity supply to consumers, company specialists said.
