The submarine fiber-optic cable laid along the Caspian seabed from Aktau to Azerbaijan's Sumgait turns Kazakhstan into a major transit hub. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

President of the Kazakhstan Internet Association Shavkat Sabirov noted that the project enhances Kazakhstan's transit potential in data transmission.

Technical capabilities of the cable

Economic benefits

According to the expert, for a transit state this is a very good business. Moreover, through Azerbaijan a direct route to Italy and Europe opens up.

Benefits for neighboring countries
