In Kazakhstan, the main stage of construction of the Trans-Caspian submarine fiber-optic communication line has been completed. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the government, the submarine cable has been successfully delivered to the coast of Kazakhstan, completing the most difficult part of the project implemented by Kazakhtelecom JSC and AzerTelecom International.
The new route along the Aktau – Sumgait direction will unite the digital infrastructure of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan and become a corridor for high-speed direct data transmission between Asia and Europe.
The project will increase the reliability of international communications and strengthen the transit potential of the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev, Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhtelecom JSC Bagdat Musin, and General Director of AzerTelecom International Ana Nakashidze familiarized themselves with the progress of the completion of marine construction works on board the cable-laying vessel.
The project was started in 2025. Specialists conducted engineering surveys, determined the optimal route, and tested the cable.
The cable laying work began in July 2026. The construction was carried out around the clock with the help of a specialized vessel with a displacement of more than 20 thousand tons. 70 specialists were involved in the project.
