A commission led by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozymbayev has arrived in the Mangystau region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The commission, which arrived in the Mangystau region on the president's instructions due to the emergency, is coordinating the work of state bodies and taking necessary measures at the scene.
Commission composition
According to the statement, the commission includes the Minister of Defense, the akim of the Mangystau region, heads of the ministries of labor and social protection of the population, internal affairs, emergency situations, health care and transport, the Chief Military Prosecutor, as well as representatives of the Border Service.
Commission members are assessing the current situation and determining further measures in all areas related to eliminating the consequences of the emergency.
Priority tasks
Special attention is paid to providing necessary assistance to the families of the victims, clarifying the circumstances of the incident, as well as coordinating the actions of relevant state bodies and services. The commission's work continues at the scene.
Circumstances of the tragedy
Recall that an emergency occurred during exercises in the Mangystau region, and 9 people died.
According to preliminary data, on September 24, due to a sharp deterioration in weather and increased wind, a wave swept away 19 servicemen in the Caspian Sea.
Currently, 9 of them have been confirmed dead.
Three servicemen were rescued, one of them was hospitalized.
The search for the others is ongoing.
National mourning
Tokayev has declared tomorrow, September 25, a day of national mourning in Kazakhstan in connection with the death of the servicemen.
