Ukrainian armed forces attacked two tankers near the marine terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) in the Black Sea, the consortium reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
On July 30, 2026, at 01:48 Moscow time, the tanker "NIFFOS SIFNOS" was attacked. The tanker was loading oil at the CPC's external berth facility VPU-3. The shipper was Tengizchevroil LLP (Chevron company).
As a result of the drone attack, a fire broke out in the area of the oil receiving manifolds on the tanker's cargo deck. The fire was extinguished by the tanker's crew with the assistance of three CPC support vessels.
There were no casualties or fatalities among CPC employees or representatives of contractor organizations. The tanker crew did not require medical assistance or evacuation. The tanker sustained no significant damage and remains seaworthy.
Currently, the extent of the damage is being assessed. Oil loading operations have been suspended, but the pipeline facilities are operating normally.
Additionally, another tanker, "MARATHI," which was heading to the CPC marine terminal to receive oil, was also attacked. On July 27, CPC had resumed oil pumping after a previous attack on tankers.
More than 80% of Kazakhstan's oil exports are transported via this route.
