Russian bailiffs have arrested the funds of Say Agency, which promised to organize two concerts by rapper Kanye West (YE) in St. Petersburg. The agency is being ordered to pay 115,500 rubles (about 618,000 tenge). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The news was reported by Vedomosti, citing data from the Federal Bailiff Service.

How the enforcement began

Bailiffs began the enforcement based on a writ of execution from the Oktyabrsky District Court of Samara.

Why the concerts did not happen

The rapper was due to perform on October 10 and 11 at Gazprom Arena. But on September 30, the organizers announced that the concerts would not take place.

"YE's concerts in St. Petersburg will not be able to take place on the planned dates," Say Agency said.

The agency promised to begin refunding ticket money from October 12, and to publish the rules later.

Buyers have gone to court

Buyers have already gone to court. By September 24, they had filed six lawsuits totaling 1.4 million rubles (about 7.5 million tenge). The largest is from a Muscovite who spent 640,000 rubles (about 3.4 million tenge) on four tickets and another 64,000 rubles (about 342,000 tenge) on commission. He is demanding a penalty for the delay in refunding the money, 100,000 rubles (535,000 tenge) for moral damages, and a fine equal to half the amount the court awards.

Questions arose before the concerts

Questions about the concerts arose even after ticket sales began. Gazprom Arena stated that it had not given consent to the performances. Say Agency insisted that it had agreed with the venue on ticket sales. In mid-September, the announcement of the concerts disappeared from Kanye West's tour website.

The Almaty concert

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle wrote about how Kanye West's concert in Almaty went. Due to force majeure, the show had to be postponed. On August 14, a power outage caused by an accident cut electricity in most districts of the city, and in the evening heavy rain and wind began. Due to the bad weather, the show was moved to August 15.

Fireworks were launched at the performance, causing some spectators to be injured, and producer Bayan Alaguzova was outraged by the different conditions for organizing concerts for domestic and foreign performers.
