The concert of American rapper Kanye West (Ye), scheduled for the evening of August 14 at the Central Stadium in Almaty, has been postponed to August 15. This was announced directly at the stadium in front of the gathered audience. The postponement was also confirmed by Kazakh blogger and businessman Beibit Alibekov. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The organizers apologized to the audience and explained the decision by safety considerations.
"We apologize, but we are forced to postpone our show today to tomorrow at the same time. All your tickets will be available via the same links, also available on Ticketon. We ask for your understanding, as safety comes first," they announced at the stadium.
Kanye West also confirmed the postponement in his X account. He said the show was moved to the next day due to weather conditions.
"Residents of Almaty. Due to weather conditions, today's concert is postponed to tomorrow. Health and safety are a priority. See you tomorrow," the artist wrote.
According to Mash, organizers fear that due to precipitation, the stage dome could become slippery, posing risks for the artist during the performance. The new concert time is 21:00 on August 15.
Earlier in the day, the concert's holding was in question due to a massive power outage in Almaty. The disruptions affected, among others, the Bostandyk district, where the Central Stadium is located. Later, power supply in the city began to be restored.
Kursiv correspondents near the stadium report that the gathered audience is upset by the postponement. Most spectators had already arrived at the venue by the scheduled start of the show.
Ye's performance in Almaty was to be his first major concert in Kazakhstan. Initially, the show was scheduled for August 14 as part of the world tour YE TOUR 2026. Organizers previously said that the date had changed even during preparation: due to adjustments in logistics and the order of cities in the tour, they had to quickly agree on holding the concert on August 14.
Preparations for the performance at the Central Stadium took several weeks. A large spherical structure, one of the elements of Ye's show, was installed at the arena. Organizers also reported the delivery of more than 100 tons of technical equipment to Almaty.
Interest in the concert was high from the start of sales: half of the available tickets were sold on the first day of pre-sale. At the time of the initial announcement, tickets were distributed through Freedom SuperApp and Ticketon.
