Chinese automaker JAC has launched a new plant in Uzbekistan. The company considers the enterprise in Tashkent as its main production and export platform for Central Asian countries. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Automotive World.
The plant was opened jointly with Tashkent Investment Company on the territory of the Tashkent Industrial Park. At the launch ceremony, the company presented seven passenger and commercial models, including Sunray, T8, T9, JS8, and RF8.
JAC stated that the plant will produce vehicles for the local market and neighboring countries. The company also plans to develop auto component production in Uzbekistan, cooperate with local suppliers, and attract Chinese automotive enterprises to the country.
According to Tashkent authorities, the launch of the plant will help create new jobs and train specialists for the automotive industry.
Kazakhstan car enthusiasts are well familiar with the JAC brand. Vehicles of the brand have been produced for several years at the Allur plant in Kostanay with body welding and painting.
At the same time, the new plant in Tashkent became the first platform in Central Asia that the Chinese manufacturer itself calls its regional production center.
It is not yet known whether Uzbek-assembled cars will be supplied to Kazakhstan and how the launch of the plant will affect the local market.
Earlier, Kursiv Avto reported on the premiere of the JAC RF8 minivan in Kazakhstan.
