A passenger on board Flight FZ1073, Almog Itali, told the BBC that the aircraft fell 17,000ft (5,200m) in less than two minutes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing BBC News.
According to his account, the incident took place while the plane was flying to Israel, when a pilot apparently stabbed his co-pilot. Itali described the experience as feeling like a "rollercoaster".
After the incident, several passengers said they took control of the flight, and two other pilots at the rear of the plane reportedly came forward to land the aircraft. The plane was diverted to Saudi Arabia.
