The IRGC announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until the end of US intervention in the region, reports RIA Novosti citing Press TV. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"The Strait of Hormuz is closed until further notice until the end of US intervention in the region, no vessel is allowed passage," the statement said. The Guards said Iranian forces fired warning shots at a vessel attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz in an unauthorized direction.

In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum aimed at ending the conflict. Nevertheless, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed bombing.

According to President Donald Trump, this was a reaction to Iran's actions against commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. He threatened to increase the intensity of attacks if such a situation recurs.

The Islamic Republic launched strikes against US military infrastructure in the Middle East. The country's Foreign Ministry called Washington's aggression a violation of the agreements reached.
