Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on the map of ship routes through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Press TV, citing official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ismail Baghai, Tehran and Muscat have reached an agreement on the map of routes for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, but some issues are still under discussion.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia's Al-Hadath TV reported that Tehran and Muscat had agreed to fully open the Strait of Hormuz for shipping. This agreement must be approved by Iran's Supreme National Security Council. According to the TV channel, the agreement will be officially announced in the coming days.
In recent weeks, Washington and Tehran have been trying to negotiate the terms of a new agreement aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East with the participation of mediators. US President Donald Trump said on August 9 that Washington was not conducting negotiations with Tehran intensively enough, and the economic situation in Iran was deteriorating.
