In Kazakhstan, the volume of funds returned from online fraudsters in the first half of 2026 amounted to 1.2 billion tenge. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Finance, in January-June 2026, 1.2 billion tenge was returned to citizens affected by online fraud. This figure is 15% higher compared to the same period last year.

As ministry officials note, 70% of the returned funds were recovered thanks to the prompt actions of banks and mobile operators. The remaining 30% were returned based on court decisions.

The most common types of online fraud include: fake online stores, investment fraud, and social engineering. In the first half of 2026, more than 5,000 cases of online fraud were registered.

The Ministry of Finance urges citizens to be cautious online and not to transfer money to suspicious websites. Also, if you become a victim of fraud, you should immediately contact your bank or the police.
