The inDrive taxi service has commented on the warning from the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition regarding the inadmissibility of unjustified price increases. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During the weekend, due to a malfunction in Yandex services, users massively switched to alternative taxi-hailing platforms, and demand for the inDrive service increased significantly. As a result, the antimonopoly authority stated that taxi prices had risen nearly threefold.
According to inDrive's press service, prices stabilized within an hour on Friday, and in about three hours on Sunday. "When demand for the service surged sharply, the average price of a single trip did not increase by more than 519 tenge," the company's statement said.
In addition, the company said it had reduced its commission rate in the cities with the highest load. Recall that the Competition Protection Agency had warned the service against unjustified price increases and infringement of consumer rights.
