The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan has addressed parents and legal representatives of minors, as well as students and young people engaged in individual entrepreneurship. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
With the start of the new school year, police officers have covered all schools and educational institutions in the country with preventive measures. In total, more than 16,000 preventive events were held, of which more than 5,000 were organized with the participation of experienced teachers, psychologists and narcologists.
Teenagers detained for drug crimes
To date, 69 teenagers have been detained in the country for drug crimes. Of these, 40 were detained for drug distribution, 27 for possession in especially large amounts, and two for advertising and promoting drugs. It is noted that among those detained, 52 are boys and 17 are girls.
What parents should watch for
Bakytzhan Amirkhanov, head of the department of the Committee for Combating Drug Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, advised parents to pay attention to dangerous signs in children's behavior.
"You should be especially alarmed by such signs: the sudden appearance of money or expensive items in a child's hands, hiding the phone and correspondence, various suspicious screenshots. Additional signs of income are wraps, small packets, insulating tape, electronic scales and other suspicious items," he said.
According to him, special attention should be paid to the teenager's social circle, how they spend their free time, whose accounts they follow on social networks, and with whom they have established trusting contact in messengers.
Criminal liability starts at 16
The Ministry of Internal Affairs recalled that criminal liability for drug crimes starts at the age of 16 and called for active participation in the legal education of children.
