The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is delaying the disbursement of approximately $690 million to Ukraine under the approved credit program by at least half a month. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

On Friday, June 12, the IMF announced that it had reached a preliminary agreement with Ukrainian authorities on the allocation of a new credit tranche of $690 million. However, the transfer of funds to Kyiv requires approval from IMF management.

It also became known that the meeting of the international organization's board of directors will not take place until mid-June. Currently, it remains unclear when exactly Kyiv will receive the fund's money. Earlier, the IMF leadership approved a new four-year credit program for Ukraine worth $8.1 billion.

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said that the risk on the new credit for Ukraine is very high. According to her, debt repayment will depend on the volume of external assistance and the actions of the Ukrainian authorities.
