The International Monetary Fund (IMF) leadership will make a final decision in the coming weeks on disbursing nearly $700 million in loan funds to Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Julie Kozack, Director of the IMF's Communications Department, said at a briefing: "The board is expected to discuss this matter in the coming weeks," commenting on the timeline for approving a new loan tranche for Kyiv.
Kozack noted that after paying Ukraine a previously agreed $690 million on June 12, total disbursements under the new assistance program would reach $2.2 billion.
Earlier, the IMF leadership approved a new four-year loan program for Ukraine worth $8.1 billion.
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva emphasized that the fund recognizes exceptionally high risks associated with the new loan to Kyiv, and that debt repayment depends on external aid and authorities' actions.
