The Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan has announced that filming of the historical movie 'Molla Nasreddin: Friend of Hard Times' by filmmakers from six Turkic countries is wrapping up in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Previously, the crew worked in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Final shoots will take place in the Almaty region, Almaty and Turkistan, including near the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.
The project was initiated in 2023 at the 40th meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY in Shusha.
'Molla Nasreddin: Friend of Hard Times' is a full-length feature film created within the framework of cooperation between Turkic countries. Through the image of a famous folklore hero, the film reveals the common cultural values, traditions and worldview of the Turkic peoples. The film features Kazakh, Azerbaijani, Turkish, Kyrgyz, Turkmen and Uzbek languages,' the ministry's statement said.
The director and screenwriter is People's Artist of Azerbaijan Vagif Mustafayev.
The main role of Khoja Nasreddin is played by Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Sagyzbay Karabalin. The film also stars Konysbek Bekaidarov, Ondasyn Beksikbasov and Akerke Arys.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Jackie Chan interrupted the filming of 'Armor of God' in Kazakhstan.
In Kazakhstan, filming has already taken place in the Mangystau and Almaty regions, as well as in Almaty. Apparently, Jackie Chan will return to the country, as the filming was planned to be completed in October.
Recall that Kazakhstan was chosen as the main country for filming. In Azerbaijan, only certain scenes will be shot.
